Itchy Ears

I an age of misinformation and disinformation it is easy to be misled. Fueled by social media algorithms it is easy to live in a bubble which give us talking points that reinforce our biases. Bombarded by partisan voices which fuel outrage and fear, we lose our perspective and our hope.    Over and against all this, we must prioritize the meat of the scriptures and time spent in the presence of the one who holds our future. The Praise of All Peoples

All the cultures of the world with their own languages, music, arts and craftsmanship have a unique beauty. Each in a unique way shows us a glimpse of what it means to be created in “His image.” All the races, languages and cultures reflect the wisdom and glory of their creator. No Easy Answers

As our faith is stretched, as our character is developed, as we search for deeper answers, and as we just stand in awe of the God whose mind and purposes are beyond our understanding we come to know Him in a deeper way. As we learn to trust him even when the answers don’t come and when we don’t sense his presence, we learn the fellowship of sharing in Christ’s sufferings. These are lessons of trust we could learn no other way. Continue reading

Building Up or Tearing Down

Plastic Prayers Make Plastic Churchgoers

Open up your heart to God, just like David did. Get it all “out on the table,” then allow God to deal with the questions, the fears, the pain, the problems, the doubts. He patiently waits on us to clean out the closets of our heart. He delights in meeting with us when we do. Honesty is the road to transformation. We trade in our plastic religiosity to become authentic Christ followers. Continue reading
