Everything We Need
Begin to seek out the promises of what God would do in and through you. Begin to “plead the promises”—praying for God to work in you and in other believers you know. As you pray and intercede, God will begin to work out those promises in your life. Continue reading
Keep Running
Like it or not, God uses the difficulties of life to test our faith. In those times we “fix our eyes on Jesus” and refuse to give up. We rely on his strength to carry us through to the finish line. Continue reading

Beyond Good Intentions
The “so that” of Paul’s prayer–the reason–is that he wants the name of Jesus to be glorified as we live in intimate fellowship with Him by his grace. Following through and living lives in a way that glorifies Jesus, especially when it difficult to do so–when life is hard–that’s real Christianity. That’s the kind of Christianity that offers hope to the world. It’s what we all need. Continue reading
Passing the Test
Paul reminds us that we sometimes need to check our progress in the faith. Are we growing up in the faith? Are we becoming more and more like Jesus? Or are we just drifting along without any apparent progress, or worse, losing ground? Continue reading
Fertile Soil
Don’t allow God’s word to be stolen from you. Don’t allow times of testing to choke out the word. Don’t allow the pursuit of pleasure or wealth or the worries of this life keep you from being productive. Open up your heart to God: hear, retain and persevere in obedience to produce an abundant crop. Continue reading
Even When We Don’t Know Where We Are Going
He obeyed and went even when he didn’t know where he was going. We obey our way out of places of confusion and indecision. By doing the next thing we know we should do, God opens another door calling for another step of obedience. Often with just enough light to take the next step, we obey. Continue reading
Your Most Important Prayer Partner
You may feel overwhelmed by the news of the day. But be encouraged, Jesus invites you to intercede and together take the matter to the Father. This is not a time for anxiety, it is a time to trust and press on in God’s unshakable kingdom; a time to rest in the hopeful promises of God. Continue reading
Beyond Good Intentions
Paul is praying for these Christians to not only be people of good intentions, but people who follow through to finish all that God has called them to do–and to finish well. Continue reading

Hard Times
How do we handle unimaginable tragedy? What do we do when our worst nightmares come true? This is the stuff that Job had to deal with. This is the stuff that this book deals with. Continue reading
Faith that Refuses to Give Up
Sometimes the answers to our cries for help seem to be delayed indefinitely. Everything suggests to us that the answer is no. Continue reading
